PU CCP organizes training workshop

LAHORE: (Monday, December 15, 2025): Punjab University Centre for Clinical Psychology (CCP) in collaboration with Pakistan Association of Clinical Psychologists (PACP) organized a three-day professional training workshop on ‘Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)’ for practicing clinical psychologists. On this occasion, Director CCP Prof Dr Saima Dawood, EMDR practitioner from UK Dr Ali Akbar Mansoor, clinical psychologist, faculty members and students were present. PU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Ali admired the organizers of the training program for professional clinical psychologists. He stated that psychology is an important subject and psychologists are playing a positive role for society. Dr Mansoor, an experienced mental health professional, shared his extensive clinical expertise in trauma-focused interventions, with an emphasis on the theoretical foundations, protocols and practical applications of EMDR therapy. Prof Dr Saima Dawood said that the CCP continues to collaborate with national and international experts to provide quality training opportunities for mental health professionals in order to contribute to improve mental health services and trauma-informed care in Pakistan. She said that the workshop aimed to enhance the professional competencies of clinical psychologists in working with trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder and other trauma-related psychological difficulties. Through interactive lectures, case discussions, live demonstrations and supervised practice, participants gained hands-on exposure to EMDR techniques within an ethical and evidence-based framework.
